Taking great pictures is essential if you want to sell your home for the most money possible, but what exactly sets those great pictures apart? Today we’re sitting down with Christine from Real Estate Photography NWA to talk about some dos and don’ts of real estate photography.

Why is it important to choose an agent who uses a professional photographer?

Blair uses professional photography for all of his listings, and that’s important because you want the best first impression you can get. It’s super easy to hire a Realtor who will take some decent cell phone pictures, but they won’t be as good as they could have been.

Blair does all the work on the front end to make sure your home gets the photos it needs, which takes a lot of the guesswork out of the process. He won’t have to change up his strategy halfway.

We know all the little tricks that will make your home look better.

Can you tell us a bit about what you like about Matterport?

The Matterport tour gives you a complete view of your house. You can look at the floor and and inspect the ceiling, and walk all around the home. It’s great here because we have a lot of buyers who aren’t local. They get the opportunity to see the floor plan and better understand how the house is laid out.

The Matterport tour also gives you a full 3D floor plan for the home, and you get to see it from the outside as well.

What does a professional photographer add?

We do this every day, so we know which angles work better and how to stage the home to make it look a little bit better. Someone who doesn’t do this all the time could come in and take pictures, but we’re all about making those pictures look as good as possible. We don’t take random photos—we know all the little things that will make your home look better.

How important is preparation?

Having your home ready to go as soon as we get there helps a lot, that way we aren’t spending as much time moving stuff around. Sometimes, we might not move something you wanted us to because we assume you’re ready for us to a certain degree.

What do homeowners need to know when they schedule a photoshoot?

Have the house prepared, declutter, and remove personal items if you can. People get really nervous whenever we take pictures, but it’s an easy process. It’ll only take 30 to 45 minutes, and if the photos aren’t perfect, we can fix things in Photoshop.

If you have any more questions about photography and real estate, feel free to call or email us. We’d love to help.
